Following a win in its home opener, the Seattle Storm heads to Minnesota to face the four-time WNBA champions Lynx on Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT. The game marks the first of three consecutive road contests for the Storm; Seattle will play back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday in Atlanta and Chicago, respectively, before returning to Angel of the Winds Arena on Tuesday, June 4 for its second matchup against the Lynx.

LAST TIME OUT

Following a pregame ring ceremony and banner reveal celebrating the 2018 WNBA championship, the Storm beat the Phoenix Mercury, 77-68, in front of a sellout crowd of 8,500 in its home opener at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Wash.

Natasha Howard led the team across the board with 21 points, five steals and a career-high 16 rebounds. Second-year point guard Jordin Canada also had a career day, adding 16 points and six assists in her third start in a Storm uniform.

Despite going up against Britney Griner in the paint, the Storm held a key 20-4 advantage on second-chance points.

SERIES HISTORY

In its most recent visit to Target Center on Aug. 12, 2018, the Storm beat the Lynx to snap a 16-game road losing streak in Minnesota. Improving to 31-38 all-time vs. the Lynx, Seattle also secured its first series win (2-1) over the Lynx since 2010.

SCOUTING MINNESOTA

The Lynx tipped off their season with an 89-71 home win over the Chicago Sky.

The sixth overall pick of the 2019 WNBA Draft, Napheesa Collier scored 27 points in her first regular-season outing with the Lynx, marking the most points scored in a rookie debut since Candace Parker dropped 34 points for the Los Angeles Sparks in 2008.

Sylvia Fowles, the 2017 WNBA MVP, and Finals MVP, started the 2019 season off hot with a double-double tallying 16 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.

The Lynx played without four-time WNBA champion guard Seimone Augustus and forward Karima Christmas-Kelly. In an injury report issued by the team on Tuesday afternoon, Augustus is ruled out for Wednesday’s game and Christmas-Kelly is questionable (knee).

The Storm is approaching back-to-back road games with visits to the Atlanta Dream on Friday, May 31 at 4:30 p.m. PT. and the Chicago Sky on Saturday, June 1 at 5 p.m. PT. The Storm returns home on Tuesday, June 4 to meet with the Minnesota Lynx for the second time this season at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Wash. at 7 p.m. PT.
