Storm Surge Games
A Storm Surge is a rise in SEA level.
Storm Surge is the Storm’s commitment to honoring the communities that make Seattle special. Through amplification, we honor and celebrate the people, culture and contributions of community leaders and creators, and changemakers whose impact shapes our city. On Storm Surge game days, we are intentional about creating a platform for shared celebration, inspiration and pride.
From there, the surge expands through awareness. The Storm will use its platform to educate fans and partners about the history, needs and triumphs of each community we honor. We share stories and remind fans of the importance of understanding different cultures, and elevates Seattle’s diversity. Through awareness, the Storm inspires.
Inspiration leads us to action. Each Storm Surge game is connected to investment. Whether through direct financial support, awards, or partnerships with organizations driving meaningful work in the city. This ensures that the energy inside Climate Pledge Arena empowers change beyond it. The Seattle Storm seeks to be a surge and provide moments that lead to the lasting effects that impact Seattle and beyond.

As a supervising attorney at the international rescue committee, G Lopez helps lead a team of advocates who represent unaccompanied children fleeing their home countries. G’s area of expertise includes advocating for LGBTQ+ youth seeking asylum due to persecution for their queer and trans identities. Their guiding belief is that no child should have to go to court alone. As a bilingual, nonbinary, Latine indigenous attorney, G provides representation and hope for the community they serve at a time when their work is increasingly threatened.
