The Seattle Storm’s community initiatives reflect the franchise’s commitment beyond the basketball arena.
We work to develop programs and initiatives to make the extra pass and support those in need.

WaFd Half Court Shot Competition
Before every game, our players compete to see who can make half court shots. Beginning in 2023, we partnered with WaFD Bank to turn this competition into cash for a local nonprofit. At the end of the season, the player with the most halfcourt shots selects a local nonprofit to receive an $8,000 donation from the Storm and WaFD Bank.
Sami Whitcomb is our back-to-back champion! In 2024 she selected the Tubman Center for Health and Freedom, an organization creating a transformative healthcare model by and for the Puget Sound community. This year's $8,000 donation supports the building of their state-of-the-art healing and community space in South Seattle.
