Power Forward Readers, presented by PEMCO, is the Seattle Storm’s year-round youth literacy platform dedicated to expanding access to books, building reading confidence, and supporting early literacy development across the Greater Seattle region. Strong literacy skills are among the most important predictors of long-term academic achievement, self-confidence, and economic opportunity. Through Power Forward Readers, the Storm inspires a love of reading by modeling enthusiasm for books, encouraging participation in summer reading programs, and providing students with books of their own to help foster daily reading habits at home.

Reading Event with Page Ahead and Pemco at Lowell Elementary
Students at Lowell Elementary enjoyed a memorable reading event with the Seattle Storm, PEMCO, and Page Ahead. Volunteers read with kindergarten and first-grade classes while Doppler made special classroom visits, helping inspire young readers and celebrate the joy of books and learning.
Reading Event with Page Ahead and Pemco at Highlands Elementary
The Seattle Storm teamed up with PEMCO and Page Ahead to celebrate literacy at Highlands Elementary. Volunteers read with first-grade classes and Doppler stopped by throughout the morning, helping inspire young readers and reinforcing the importance of learning through books.
The Storm & PEMCO donated $15,000 to Page Ahead, which goes towards 5,000 books for youth home libraries.

In celebration of the launch of Power Forward Readers, Ezi Magbegor visited White Center Library and led pajama storytime with young readers
BOOK DRIVE
At our August 14th game, the Seattle Storm hosted a book drive with Page Ahead presented by Pemco. Thanks to the generosity of our fans and community, we collected 2,564 books, which translate to home libraries for 210 children.
