Seattle comes roaring back for 90-78 win at Minnesota

Storm outscores Lynx 22-3 over final 4:33 to overcome 19-point, first-half deficit

Minneapolis, Minn. — Despite at one point facing a deficit of 19 points, the Seattle Storm came back for a 90-78 win over the Minnesota Lynx at Target Center. Jewell Loyd’s 23 points and Sue Bird’s 21 points and eight assists lead the fourth-quarter comeback for Seattle. 

The Storm got off to a slow start, with Minnesota leading 48-33 at the end of the first half. Sylvia Fowles and Crystal Dangerfield each recorded 13 points in the half, both shooting 75% or better from the field.

The comeback began slowly in the third quarter, the Storm outscoring Minnesota 20-15 and closing the deficit to 10. Then, in the fourth quarter, Seattle blew the game open. 

The Storm outscored the Lynx 37-15 in the fourth, with Jordin Canada coming off the bench for all 10 minutes of the quarter to score 11. Loyd and Bird combined for another 13, the Seattle backcourt trio together totaling 60 points in the game. 

Nine of Canada’s 11 points came on free throws, tying up the game with a little over three minutes remaining. Loyd hit a three with an assist from Bird for the lead, and the Storm distanced itself for the 90-78 win, its 10th straight vs. the Lynx.
