Storm signs guard Yvonne Turner

Veteran point guard brings wealth of WNBA experience to Seattle

SEATTLE — The Seattle Storm announced today the signing of free agent guard Yvonne Turner. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Turner has appeared in 104 games over four seasons in the league, the bulk of which came with the Phoenix Mercury from 2017-19 where she averaged 5.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.6 steals per game. After an injury cost her the 2020 season, she returned to the league in 2022, signing hardship contracts with three teams, seeing action in nine games.

Originally signed by the Chicago Sky to a training camp contract in 2010, Turner suffered an injury in a preseason game, ending her chance to make the team. She played professionally over the next six seasons including leading Euroleague in scoring while with Sopron (Hungary) in 2016. Turner earned another shot in the WNBA in 2017, signing with the Mercury and averaging 5.1 points and 12.8 minutes per game in 34 games as a 29-year-old rookie.

Turner returned to Sopron in December of 2022—where she is playing with Storm teammate Ezi Magbegor—after starting the offseason with Polkowice of the Polish EBLK. She is averaging 7.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 12 Euroleague games including eight with Sopron.

Turner played collegiately at Nebraska, finishing her career with 1,101 points and in the top five all-time in Cornhusker history with 183 three-pointers and 229 steals. She was the 2010 Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a First-Team All-Big 12 pick as a senior.

Season tickets, Storm Mini Plans, and Group Experiences are available for the 2023 season. For more information, visit http://stormbasketball.com, or call 206-217-WNBA (9622).
