SEATTLE — The Seattle Storm selected a pair of players during the 2024 WNBA Draft, selecting guard Nika Mühl from UConn with the No. 14 overall pick, and forward Mackenzie Holmes from Indiana with the No. 26 selection.
Mühl, a 5-11 guard from Zagreb, Croatia, established herself as one of the top passers in UConn history. She leaves the Huskies with the program’s most assists all-time (686), most assists in a single season (384, 2022-23), and the most assists in a single game with 15 vs NC State on Nov. 20, 2022. Mühl was a two-time Big East Defensive Player of the Year and shut down two of the NCAA’s top scorers in Dyaisha Fair and Caitlin Clark during UConn’s 2024 NCAA tournament run. She also was named to the AP All-America Honorable Mention squad in 2024 and earned All-Big East recognition for the third straight season.
Holmes, a 6-3 forward from Gorham, Maine, finished her career ranked first in four categories including the program’s all-time leading scorer (2,530), field goals made (1,043), field goal percentage (63.9) and wins (123). She became the program’s first First Team All-American by any organization (AP, USWBA, WBCA). Holmes will undergo a procedure on her knee and miss the 2024 WNBA season. She is expected to join the Storm for training camp in 2025.
