Storm announces slate of nationally televised games

Four games to appear on ABC/ESPN family of networks including trio of major home contests

SEATTLE — The Seattle Storm and the WNBA announced its nationally televised schedule with four Storm games appearing on the ABC/ESPN family of networks including three of its first six homes games.

The Storm’s first nationally televised game of the season will be Opening Day presented by Providence Swedish on Saturday, May 20 at Noon on ABC. The game will be a rematch of the 2022 WNBA Semifinals between Seattle and Las Vegas and marks the first Commissioner’s Cup game of the season between the two Western Conference rivals.

Ten days later, the Storm host Breanna Stewart, Kent-native Courtney Vandersloot and the rest of the New York Liberty in a Tuesday night showdown at Climate Pledge Arena. The 6:00 p.m. game will be aired nationally on ESPN2.

ABC will carry the Storm’s game against Washington on Sunday, June 11, which will feature the jersey retirement of Seattle Storm and WNBA legend Sue Bird. The game tips off at Noon with Bird’s ceremony taking place following the contest. The game will also be another 2022 playoff rematch for Seattle, which swept the Mystics in a first round series.

Seattle’s road game at New York on Saturday, July 8 will also be available on ESPN at 10:30 am PT. The remainder of the 2023 Storm broadcast schedule will be released at a future date.

There has been an update to the game times on July 22 and August 13th: the game vs. Chicago on July 22 will now tipoff at 6:00 p.m. and the game vs Phoenix on Sunday, August 13, will tipoff at 3:00 p.m.

The Storm returns prolific scorer and four-time All-Star Jewell Loyd, 2022 All-Defensive Team pick Ezi Magbegor, and a healthy Mercedes Russell to the 2023 squad, joined by a talented cast of newcomers including two-time WNBA Champion Sami Whitcomb and defensive standout Kia Nurse.
