Alysha Clark Inks Multi-Year Extension With Seattle

Clark averaged 8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds during the 2017 season

SEATTLE – The Seattle Storm today announced that 5-11 guard Alysha Clark has signed a multi-year extension with the franchise.

“Alysha has been an important part of the foundation of the Storm since 2012,” said Storm President & GM Alisha Valavanis. “She brings a disruptive, blue collar mindset on the defensive end, and we are looking forward to her continued contributions in Seattle.”

A mainstay in the Emerald City since 2012, Clark has compiled career averages of 6.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor. She averaged a career-best nine points per contest in 2016 before capping the 2017 campaign with seasonal averages of 8.2 points and 4.2 boards per affair. She scored a career-high 23 points vs. New York on June 5, 2016, and notched her first double-digit rebounding game with 10 boards at Connecticut on Aug. 8, 2017.

In 2012, Clark signed a training camp contract with the Seattle Storm and ultimately landed a spot on the team’s roster. Her WNBA debut came on June 1, 2012, when she logged five minutes against the Tulsa Shock.

Clark was chosen 17th overall by the San Antonio Stars in the 2010 WNBA Draft after capping her collegiate career with two explosive seasons at Middle Tennessee State, where she accumulated 1,756 points to rank ninth on the school’s all-time scoring list. After being waived post-training camp, she took her talents overseas, playing in Hapoel Rishon LeZion, Israel. During her 2010-11 professional season, she was named Domestic Player of the Year by Eurobasket.com and All-Israeli First Team after averaging 14 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

The Storm tips off the 2018 slate against the Phoenix Mercury on May 20 during Opening Night presented by Swedish, with start time set for 6 p.m. PT at KeyArena. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a Sue Bird bobblehead to celebrate her league record-breaking assist last season at Washington, and her game-worn jersey from that contest will also be on display, allowing fans to take photos and capture a visual taste of WNBA history.
