Storm signs Kiana Williams
SEATTLE — The Seattle Storm announced today the team has signed guard Kiana Williams to a hardship contract. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
Williams, who was picked by the Storm as the 18th overall selection in the 2021 WNBA Draft, made the roster out of training camp with Seattle last season, appearing in 10 games during two stints with the team. She scored the first points of her career on a four-point play against the Connecticut Sun only hours after graduating from Stanford.
Williams came to Seattle fresh off an NCAA Championship at Stanford, where she averaged 13.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game over four seasons and set the school record for career three-pointers made (310). Williams, who was named to the All-Pac-12 team three times and twice earned Pac-12 All-Tournament honors, started all but nine games in her career and averaged double-figures in scoring all four seasons.
Williams will be eligible to play tonight and wear No. 23 as the Storm hosts the New York Liberty at 7:00 p.m. inside Climate Pledge Arena in the first of two games between the two this weekend. The Storm and Liberty match-up again in Seattle on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
