Storm Odds for the 2015 WNBA Draft Lottery presented by State Farm®
SEATTLE – Finishing 10-24 on the season, the Storm will have 442 odds out of 1000 in Thursday’s lottery to secure the first overall selection in the 2016 WNBA Draft. The draft lottery will take place on the ESPN campus in Bristol, Conn., and will air live at 5 p.m. PT, during halftime of the Eastern Conference Finals playoff game on ESPN2, Thursday, Sept. 24.
Under the new format announced on Aug. 5, Seattle is guaranteed to end up with at least the third pick. Under the previous format, the Lottery team with the worst single-season record was guaranteed to pick no worse than fourth.
The drawing will still be held among the four teams that did not make the playoffs (the “Lottery teams”) during the current season. However, instead of assigning each Lottery team odds based solely on its record this season, the odds will be based on the cumulative records of the Lottery teams over the two most recent regular seasons (2014 and 2015).
The San Antonio Stars, who own the second worst two-year cumulative record, will have 276 chances out of 1,000. The third worst cumulative record goes to the Connecticut Sun, they will have 178 chances out of 1,000. The Atlanta Dream have the worst odds of securing the top pick with 104 chances out of 1,000.
The two Lottery teams that do not come up in the lottery will then select in the inverse order of their two-year cumulative record.
