SEATTLE – The Seattle Storm today announced a multi-year partnership with TomboyX, a Seattle-based company offering gender-neutral undergarments, swimwear and loungewear. As the ‘Official Underwear of the Seattle Storm,’ TomboyX co-branded merchandise will be available for purchase online and in-arena at the Storm Team Shop.
“As women-owned companies, the Storm and TomboyX share values around inclusion and equality with a goal of advancing opportunities for women,” said Alisha Valavanis, Storm CEO and General Manager. “We are excited for this partnership as we can now provide fans with Storm-branded TomboyX gear.”
Started in 2012 by lifelong tomboys Fran Dunaway and Naomi Gonzalez, TomboyX is a lifestyle brand rooted in acceptance and body positivity providing comfortable underwear for all bodies across the size and gender spectrums.

“As a Seattle-based startup led by two LGBTQ women, we’re honored to be named the Seattle Storm’s official underwear partner” said Fran Dunaway, CEO and co-founder of TomboyX. “Both TomboyX and the Seattle Storm embrace the power of community, leadership, motivation and female empowerment, so the partnership is a no-brainer. Our hope is that our sustainable boxer briefs and bras will not only offer a comfortable, size-inclusive option for Seattle Storm fans, but also encourage fans to go out, be active and celebrate being their best selves.”
TomboyX and the Seattle Storm were recently recognized by the Puget Sound Business Journal as two of Washington’s largest women-owned companies based on revenue reports from the 2018 calendar year. Dunaway and Valavanis were also honored by the same publication in 2017 as Outstanding Voices for their joint efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion within their organizations.
The Storm will also continue to recognize one “Unapologetic Fan of the Game,” whom TomboyX celebrates as someone who is utterly, completely and unapologetically themselves, and who is not afraid to stand up, stand out, be heard and be seen.
