Seattle Storm, LifeWise and Seattle Parks and Recreation Invite the Community to Celebrate the Judkins Park Court Renovation
LifeWise Donated $15 per Assist During the 2015 Season, Totaling $7,500 for Court Refurbish
SEATTLE – Seattle Parks and Recreation, together with community partners, renovated the Judkins Park basketball court with funding support from Seattle Neighborhood Park and Street Fund Grant, Community Development Block Grant Funds and a donation from LifeWise Health Plan of Washington and Seattle Storm. The court renovation features a new professional-sized basketball court and sideline benches. The existing backboards on the smaller cross-courts remain for younger players. All three courts will have new court striping and benches on the sidelines.
The community is invited to join in the ribbon cutting and celebration for the project on Wednesday, Dec. 9., with the ceremony scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. PT. Seattle Parks and Recreation Deputy Superintendent Christopher Williams will be on hand to celebrate the refurbished courts.
The Storm will offer a skills and drills session, beginning at 3:45 p.m. PT, for youth led by Storm guard Monica Wright and assistant coach Leah Drury. Doppler, the Storm’s mascot, will also attend the event to greet fans.
Through the LifeWise Community Assist program, LifeWise Health Plan of Washington donated $15 for each assist from the Storm’s 2015 season, totaling $7,500. These funds were earmarked for the refurbishment of a basketball court in the Seattle parks. The 23rd Avenue Advisory Core Team worked with the City to receive the grants.
The Judkins Park address is 2150 S Norman St, 98144. Judkins Park basketball court and a small parking lot are located at the corner of 22nd Ave S. and S Judkins St. Community members are encouraged to walk or take Metro #48.
