Ezi Magbegor named to WNBA All-Defensive Second Team
Seattle forward earns all-defensive honors for second-straight season
SEATTLE — Seattle Storm forward Ezi Magbegor has been named to the WNBA All-Defensive Second Team as announced by the league today. It is the second-straight season Magbegor has earned the honor.
Magbegor, a 6-4 forward from Australia, had another solid defensive campaign, finishing second in the WNBA in blocked shots with 1.9 per game and 74 total—the second-most in a season in Storm history. Of her 8.1 rebounds per game, 6.5 came on the defensive glass where her 258 defensive boards were the fourth-most in the league. Magbegor also added 1.1 steals per game making her one of just two players to average 8.1 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game.
Magbegor, who was named to her first All-Star squad this season, finished with a defensive win share of 0.104, the fourth-best mark among players 25 years old and under. She blocked a shot in 32 of the 40 games she played in this season including 12 games with three or more. Magbegor also finished with 10 double-doubles after coming into the season with just three.
