Tokashiki to Miss Four Storm Games for 2015 FIBA Asia Women’s Championship; Rejoins Seattle in September

Tokashiki Set to Join Japanese National Team for Olympics Qualification Competition

SEATTLE – Storm rookie forward Ramu Tokashiki will miss four Storm games while she fulfills obligations with the Japanese National Team, competing in the 2015 FIBA Asia Women’s Championship.

“We were aware and in full support of Taku’s commitment to the Japanese National Team,” said Storm President & GM Alisha Valavanis. “We wish her the best of luck and look forward to her return to the Storm in September.”

Tokashiki will arrive in Japan on Aug. 23 to practice with the Japanese National Team prior to the competition in Wuhan, China beginning on Aug. 29. The Japanese National Team will play India on Aug. 30, Taiwan on Aug. 31, China on Sept. 1 and Thailand on Sept. 2. The semifinals and finals will take place Sept. 4-5.

Tokashiki will miss the Storm’s games on Aug. 28 vs. San Antonio, Aug. 30 vs. Washington, Sept. 3 vs. Tulsa and Sept. 6 at Chicago. She will rejoin the team in Minnesota ahead of the Storm’s game at the Target Center on Sept. 8.

This season, Tokashiki has started 12 games, playing in all 26, averaging 20 minutes per game. She’s third on the WNBA rookies scoring list, at 8.3 points per game, and is averaging 3.1 rebounds a contest.
