Storm signs free agent forward Joyner Holmes

SEATTLE — The Seattle Storm announced today the team has signed forward Joyner Holmes to a rest of the season contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Holmes, a 6-3 forward who was originally drafted by the Storm in 2020, began her fourth season in the league with Los Angeles. She saw action in five games with the Sparks before being waived on Monday, averaging 4.2 points and 3.4 rebounds while averaging 12.0 minutes per game including a nine-point, six-rebound performance against Las Vegas on May 27.

Holmes spent the 2022-23 offseason playing with Sassari (Italy), averaging 18.0 points, 8.8 rebounds. 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 27 games. Over the course of her WNBA career, Holmes, the 19th overall pick by Seattle in the 2020 WNBA Draft, has appeared in 50 games with New York, Las Vegas, and Connecticut. She spent the 2022 season with the Sun, playing in 26 games and averaging 2.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.5 assists.

Holmes will be available tonight and wearing No. 8 as the Storm faces Washington in the first of back-to-back home games against the Mystics at Climate Pledge Arena this weekend. Friday’s game tips off at 7:00 p.m.
