Seattle Storm Waives Anriel Howard, Signs Blake Dietrick

SEATTLE – The Seattle Storm today announced that the team has waived rookie forward Anriel Howard and signed free agent guard Blake Dietrick.

Selected by the Storm with the 24th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft, Howard made her WNBA regular-season debut on May 29 in Minnesota. In total, Howard logged 23 minutes in three games, scoring five points and grabbing three rebounds.

Seattle’s roster remains at 12 with the signing of Dietrick. The 5-foot-10 guard averaged 4.7 points and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 50.0 percent from the field in three preseason games with the Atlanta Dream before she was waived on May 23. Last season, Dietrick appeared in 26 regular-season games with the Dream, averaging 7.2 minutes per game.

This will mark Dietrick’s second stop in Seattle. In 2016, she made the Storm’s season-opening roster and appeared two regular-season games with the team. After she was waived, Dietrick appeared in one game with the San Antonio Stars, then coached by Dan Hughes.

A native of Wellesley, Mass., Dietrick most recently competed overseas with Lointek Gernika Bizkaia in Spain where she averaged 15.1 points and 5.0 assists per game in eight EuroCup games.
