Seattle Storm to Host Carter Subaru Go Green Night
Seattle Storm Planting One Tree per Three-Pointer Throughout 2015 Season
SEATTLE – The Seattle Storm today announced Carter Subaru Go Green Night, Aug. 14 against the visiting Chicago Sky. Seattle Goodwill is a supporting sponsor of the evening.
“As we head into our seventh year of partnership with Carter Subaru, we are once again proud to collaborate on our annual Go Green Night,” said Storm President & GM Alisha Valavanis. “Driven by Carter Subaru General Manager Jennifer Moran, this campaign is a reflection of a shared commitment to making a positive impact on our community and our environment.”
The Storm will take on Chicago Sky wearing their green jerseys in honor of going green. Seattle is undefeated wearing their green jerseys at home on Go Green Night, which dates back to 2009. August 14 will mark the seventh year Carter Subaru has presented Go Green Night in partnership with the Seattle Storm, and in total, the Storm and Carter have planted 1,492 along the Mountains to Sound Greenway.
“By sharing environmental values, Carter Subaru and the Storm are committed to reducing our collective environmental footprint,” said Moran. “Since 2009 we’ve planted over 1,600 trees through our 3’s for Trees Campaign with the Storm, which in turn helped in our overall planting of over 120,000 trees in the Mountains to Sound Greenway to date.”
Part of the Storm and Carter Subaru’s Go Green initiative is “3’s for trees” in which a tree will be planted along the Mountains to Sound Greenway for each three Seattle scores in the 2015 season. Carter Subaru has partnered with the Storm to Seattle’s environmental footprint making changes such as recycling paper, glass, plastic, metal and food waste. The Storm also works to reduce its environmental impact by making sure thunder sticks and retail bags at merchandise stands are made of biodegradable plastic.
Carter Subaru and the Seattle Storm will end the 2015 “3’s for Trees” initiative with the annual tree planting this fall. Carter Subaru began planting trees along the Mountains to Sound Greenway in 2008.
