Storm announces seventh annual toy drive presented by Denali AI and supported by Aetna benefiting Seattle Children’s hospital

Campaign will run through the first half of September with special addition of a Doppler stuffed toy

SEATTLE — The Seattle Storm announced its seventh annual Toy Drive presented by Denali Advanced Integration and supported by Aetna, a CVS Health company, benefiting Seattle Children’s Hospital. Between September 1 and 15, fans will have the chance to donate toys or make financial contributions towards kids undergoing medical treatment via the official campaign page. An Amazon wish list with items needed by the hospital is available on the same website.

Founded and run initially by a group of philanthropist women over 100 years ago, Seattle Children’s Hospital is in the forefront of medical research, working to cure childhood disease and improve outcomes for children all over the world. The organization specializes in meeting the unique physical, emotional, and developmental needs of children from infancy through young adulthood, by the outstanding work of its physicians in nearly 60 pediatric subspecialties.

“The Toy Drive has become a staple in the Storm organization and our fans look forward to it every year. It is wonderful to partner with Denali and Aetna in our collective efforts to provide toys for kids being treated by Seattle Children’s,” said Alisha Valavanis, Storm President and CEO. “The chance to gift children toys and hopefully bring them some extra happiness and joy to what makes this event so special.

In 2020, the Storm helped raise $10,000 in cash donations and 1,000 toys to Seattle Children’s. Now, in 2021, the franchise is offering one more opportunity to increase the number of kids benefited by creating one more donation outlet: starting today, for every purchase of a “Donation Doppler’s Teddy Bear” from the Storm Team Shop, the stuffed toy and proceeds from the sale will be automatically directed to Seattle Children’s.

Storm partners Denali Advanced Integration and Aetna will make separate monetary donations as part of the Toy Drive.

“Denali Advanced Integration holds the highest esteem for the Storm, Seattle Children’s, and the work they do to provide hope and care for children who need it most,” said Corby Casler, Denali Director of Marketing. “Our commitment to providing comfort and joy to children is more important than ever.”

“Aetna is honored to support the Seattle Storm’s toy drive for Seattle Children’s Hospital—a cause that will impact healing and promote comfort for some of our community’s youngest patients,” said Dr. Catherine Gaffigan, Aetna’s Northwest-Mountain Market President. “Laughter and play are so critical to a child during and after challenging situations like a severe illness – we can’t think of a better cause to support.”
