Seattle Storm Signs Sami Whitcomb, Nikki Greene

Former Washington Husky, two-year WNBA veteran Greene join Seattle’s training camp roster

SEATTLE – The Seattle Storm today announced the signing of former University of Washington women’s basketball standout Sami Whitcomb and two-year WNBA veteran Nikki Greene.

Whitcomb, a 2010 graduate of Washington, is currently playing for the Perth Lynx in Australia, averaging 24.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. The 5-10 guard has five years of international basketball experience, with stops in Germany, Slovakia and Australia. A native of Ventura, Calif., Whitcomb led the Washington Huskies in scoring (13.0 PPG), rebounds (5.6 RPG) and assists (2.5 APG). She currently sits 20th all-time in UW scoring history with 1,205 points in 113 games played.

Greene is currently playing for Sleza Wroclaw in Poland, and is averaging 11.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She has appeared in 23 WNBA games over the span of two years, with stops in Los Angeles in 2014 and Connecticut in 2015. Greene was drafted 26th overall in the 2013 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury.

A graduate of Penn State, Greene is the only player in program history to reach 1,000 points, 900 rebounds and 200 blocks. She ranks second all-time at Penn State with 215 blocked shots and is fourth in rebounds with 994 while starting a program-record 131 games throughout her Nittany Lions career.

As previously announced by the WNBA, Seattle has been selected to host Verizon WNBA All-Star 2017. The game is set for 12:30 p.m. on July 22, 2017 at KeyArena.
