Natasha Howard Selected To 2019 All-WNBA Team

Accolades continue in career year for the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year

SEATTLE – Storm forward Natasha Howard was named to the All-WNBA First Team, the league today announced. It is the first such honor for Howard, who was named to the WNBA All-Defensive First Team in September.

“I just want to thank everyone for believing in me, but I also want to thank my teammates and the Storm organization for believing in me as well,” said Howard. “I also want to congratulate everyone else that got this honor. I’m just very blessed and proud of my hard work that I put in this season.”

The 2019 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year appeared in all 34 contests for the Storm, averaging career highs in minutes (31.3), points (18.1), rebounds (8.2), assists (2.1) and steals (2.18) per game. Howard also swiped a league-leading 74 steals, surpassing the franchise single-season record previously shared by Sonja Henning (2000) and Sue Bird (2006).

After she was named the WNBA Western Conference Player of the Month for June, Howard was voted to her first WNBA All-Star Game, where she tallied 14 points and six rebounds as a starter for Team Wilson.

Last season, Howard was named the WNBA Most Improved Player as she helped lead the Storm to the franchise’s third title.
