Breanna Stewart to Play in China During WNBA Offseason

Seattle Storm rookie forward Breanna Stewart has signed with Shanghai of the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association. Stewart will play for the club during the WNBA offseason following the conclusion of her rookie year with the Storm.

As of now, Stewart would be the only American player on Shanghai’s roster for next season. Numerous Americans played for different teams in the WCBA last year, including former WNBA MVPs Tina Charles, Maya Moore and Candace Parker.

This past season, Shanghai lost to Beijing, the eventual league champion led by American forward Sylvia Fowles, in the semifinals of the playoffs.
