Lauren Jackson Jersey Retirement Ceremony to be Held Postgame on Friday, July 15

Festivities Begin Just Before Tipoff; Jackson Makes First KeyArena Appearance Since 2012

 SEATTLE – The Seattle Storm today announced the specifics for Lauren Jackson’s jersey retirement ceremony on Friday, July 15, when it faces the Washington Mystics at 7 p.m. The ceremony, which celebrates Jackson’s illustrious career and unveils her jersey in the rafters, will occur immediately after the game on Carter Subaru Court at KeyArena.

The entire evening is dedicated to honoring Jackson, and the festivities involving her will begin just before tipoff. With that in mind, the Storm strongly encourages fans to be in their seats for the game by 7 p.m. Due to the annual Bite of Seattle taking place at the Seattle Center, please allow extra time for parking. Fans are asked to use the box office on the West Plaza off of 1st Avenue, as the East box office facing the Seattle Center will be closed. The regular happy hour featuring $3 beers starts at 5:30 p.m.

During pregame warmups, Storm players will be wearing limited edition Jackson shirts that are available at the Team Shop on Friday. Throughout the game, there will be video tributes and more with Jackson, who will be seated courtside in her first appearance at KeyArena since 2012.

Taking place on the court following the final buzzer, the postgame ceremony will be emceed by Dick Fain, the longtime Voice of the Storm. Fans will hear from former Storm President & CEO Karen Bryant, head coach Jenny Boucek, co-owner Lisa Brummel and point guard Sue Bird before Jackson addresses the crowd.

Widely regarded as one of the best women’s basketball players ever, Jackson played all of her 12 WNBA seasons in Seattle, guiding the Storm to championships in 2004 and 2010. With 6,007 career points, she ranks first in franchise history and seventh among the WNBA all-time scoring leaders. She also ranks ninth all-time in rebounds (2,447) and third in blocks (586). The first and only WNBA Most Valuable Player born outside the United States, Jackson won the award three times (2003, ’07, ’10), tied for the most in league history.
